Help! School’s Out, and The Kids are Home All Day! How Do I Regain Balance?

New Christian Book Can Help Busy Parents Balance Their Lives

It’s hard enough for parents to find balance in our busy society. The added stress of our children being home all summer can tip the scale. Whether you are a working mom (or dad), a stay-at-home mom (or dad), or anything in between, it’s a shock to your schedule when the kids are suddenly home all day, looking for things to do.

Don’t get me wrong, we love our children. But, when we settle into a routine, it’s difficult to shift gears. Now, instead of getting to the bus stop, dance practice, and ball games on time, we need to figure out child care arrangements and activities to entertain our sons and daughters (who are used to a busy day learning and interacting at school).

What about turning to the Bible with your children? Read the Bible, pray together, and attend more church activities like Vacation Bible Schools (where you can often leave your child for an hour or two while you run errands or get some much-needed rest).

While reading the Bible and attending VBS may not suddenly improve the daily schedule at your house, starting a pattern can forge positive lifelong habits and deepen your child’s relationship with God (as well as your relationship with God and your child). Even further, true life balance can be found in the pages of God’s Word, which will help both you and your child well into the future.

Led by a quest to balance her own life, Christian author Christina Downs introduces a unique system of achieving life balance by applying Biblical lessons that appear to contradict one another. In the book Simply Balanced: Bible “Contradictions” Teach Balanced Living, she describes six sets of Bible paradoxes that actually work together, helping us balance our lives. From contradiction to balance: the method is simple but far from easy.

Start today. Learn to balance your life and start your children down the right path.

Christina Downs is a wife, mother, writer, and editor who has struggled with balance in her work and home life. She has over fifteen years of writing and editing experience and education, including technical writing, newsletter articles, and copy editing, and she has taught children’s Sunday school (and even helped run a VBS once at a small church).

The nonfiction book Simply Balanced: Bible “Contradictions” Teach Balanced Living is currently available as an ebook, and the print book will be on sale by July 8, 2007. You may obtain the 144-page book from the following locations: the publisher at http://www.CrossYourHeartPublications.com, bookstores, Amazon.com, Ingram/Spring Arbor, and other online and specialty gift locations. Books purchased directly from the publisher will be autographed by the author, and all orders shipped from the publisher will include a free prayer bead bracelet. The price for the print book is $12.95 plus shipping, and the price for the ebook is $9.99. Order by the end of June and receive both the print book and ebook for $12.95.
