Deepening Your Relationship With God By Giving Thanks
Do you remember to thank your earthly father for all he has done for you? Raising you, practicing for Little League games with you, driving you to college, always being there for you… Many of us probably don't say "thank you" or "I love you" to our parents often enough. If we did, imagine how much closer we would be, how such simple words would improve our relationship with our parents.
What about your Heavenly Father? Do you regularly give thanks for all of the blessings He has provided? Doing so can help deepen our relationship with our Lord and Savior, leading to a fuller, more meaningful fellowship with God than we could ever imagine. How wonderful to grow closer to our Heavenly Father! Giving thanks can help deepen this already inseparable bond.
Just as having a closer relationship with your earthly parents can be a part of living a balanced emotional life, so, too, does a deeper relationship with God Your Father help balance your spiritual life. We are children of God, and we need to show our appreciation to our Heavenly Father. To feel the peace we are all searching for in life, we need to give thanks joyfully and tell God how grateful we are and how much we love Him.
Communication goes both ways -- we can't always be asking Him for a sign and then not be willing to respond in return. Worship Him, praise Him, THANK HIM! Show Him how much you love Him. TELL Him how much you love Him.
Confess with your voice that Jesus Christ is Lord!
I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.
- Psalm 142:1
They raise their voices, they shout for joy; from the west they acclaim the LORD's majesty.
- Isaiah 24:14

SPECIAL NOTE: I love you, Mom and Dad! Thank you for everything you have done for me. You are wonderful parents and grandparents. If I can't tell you "thank you" near Thanksgiving Day, when can I? You are more special than you probably know, in so many ways, and I understand that even more now that I have children myself. Also, thank you to my husband Ray for being such a good and loving father and husband, to my in-laws for being wonderful grandparents, to my children for being such blessings, and to all of my friends and family for being there for me. But, most of all, thank You, Lord, for placing all of these special people in my life and for providing our daily needs. Love always, Chris
I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.
- 1 Corinthians 1:4 (NIV)
